IUML against ban on Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam

IUML against ban on Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam

( old news for information )

The Indian Union Muslim League is opposed to any ban on the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam.

Stating this in Madras last night, IUML General Secretary K A Abdul Samad and National Secretary E Ahmed told reporters that banning the organisation was not the way to maintain social harmony and peace in the state.

The two leaders dismissed the suggestion that Muslim youths were joining extremist organisations. Just because a few youths had joined extremist organisations, it was unfair to make a generalisation, they said.

They said the IUML would celebrate its golden jubilee on March 9 and March 10 in the city.

The celebrations will begin at Rajaji Hall, where the party was founded 50 years ago.

The league will demand proportional representation in the legislatures, they said.
A massive procession will be taken out on the second day in which leaders from all over the country will participate, they said.

They added that Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar, among others, would address a public meeting on the concluding day.
