Dear Brothers / Sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum.
On behalf of our Sirajul Millath Forum Hong Kong, we are deeply saddened to hear the news of sudden demise of our Respected Spiritual Leader of the Ummah & a great Political Leader of Indian Union Muslim League Janab Haji Sayeed Mohamed Ali Shihab Thangal, at his age 73, Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Razioon.
Sayyidi Panakkad Syed Mohammed Ali Shihab Thangal is the president of the Kerala state committee of the Indian Union Muslim League. He is a member of the Thangal family, who were the descendents of our beloved Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be Upon Him). He has a doctorate in Islamic Studies from Cairo's Al Azhar University.
He has championed the propagation and importance of education. He was one of Kerala's most prominent leaders and led the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) for many decades with great distinction. He was a nationalist who cherished secular values and a social worker and a powerful orator. The nation has lost an eminent public figure, and the Muslim Ummah lost a great leader.
He always resisted pressures to take up plum postings in Muslim countries that had good relations with India and also preferred to keep away from the corridors of power.
He came from the family , who were well known for their patriotism by taking a strong anti-imperialist stance during the British rule.
We pray Almighty ALLAH to forgive his sins and place him in Jannathul Firdous and our condolence to his family and relatives and the family of our Indian Union Muslim League, indeed it’s a great loss to the Muslim Ummah and the Nation.
